How to Set Up SSO with Okta

This guide walks you through configuring Single Sign-On (SSO) with Okta using the SAML 2.0 protocol.

Once complete, your users can seamlessly log into Lawpilots LMS+ through your Okta identity provider.

 

🧭 Step 1: Log in to the Okta Admin Console

 

Go to your Okta admin portal: https://your-domain.okta.com/admin

Log in using an admin account.

 

🆕 Step 2: Create a New SAML 2.0 Application

 

Navigate to Applications > Applications

Click Create App Integration.

Choose SAML 2.0 as the sign-in method.

Click Next to continue with the setup.

 

⚙️ Step 3: Configure General Settings

 

Enter App Name: Lawpilots LMS+

Upload the Lawpilots logo if desired.

Click Next to continue with the setup.

 

🔧 Step 4: Configure the SAML Settings

 

Under General, enter the following fields as provided by the lawpilots team:

Note: The Single sign-on URL and Audience URI (SP Entity ID) will be provided by lawpilots.

Single sign-on URL:
https://auth.lawpilots.net/realms/cockpit-production/broker/your-subdomain-okta/endpoint

Audience URI (SP Entity ID):
https://auth.lawpilots.net/realms/cockpit-production/your-subdomain

Set the following values:

  • Name ID format: EmailAddress
  • Application username: Email
  • Update application username on: Create and update

Click Next to continue with the setup.

 

📥 Step 5: Get the SAML Metadata from Okta

 

Once the app is created, go to the Sign On tab.

Copy or download the following metadata and send it to the lawpilots onboarding team so they can setup the relevant parts in LMS+:

  • Metadata URL
  • Sign-on URL
  • Issuer
  • X.509 Certificate

👥 Step 6: Assign Users to the Application

 

Go to the Assignments tab.

Click Assign > Assign to People or Assign to Groups:


 

Click Finish to complete the setup.

✅ Final Notes

 

If you are using SSO for LMS+ access, make sure the user’s email address matches the one defined in your LMS+ account.

Once assigned, the user will be able to log into Lawpilots LMS+ through your company’s Okta portal.
