What is SCORM and why does it matter for Learning Managers?
Introduction
SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is the most widely used standard for e-learning content. Understanding SCORM helps Learning Managers know how lawpilots trainings integrate with different learning platforms.
SCORM overview
SCORM ensures that digital trainings work across different learning management systems (LMS). It allows seamless communication between training content and the LMS.
Versions supported by lawpilots
lawpilots provides SCORM packages in the following versions:
SCORM 1.2
SCORM 2004
Please note: SCORM 2003 is also possible, but we strongly recommend 2004, as the functionality is improved.
Compatibility with other LMS systems
Almost all major LMS platforms, such as SAP SuccessFactors, Cornerstone, and LMS365, support SCORM packages.
What SCORM enables
With SCORM, Learning Managers can:
Track learner progress.
See test results.
Confirm completion status.
This data is available directly in your LMS.
Beyond SCORM: xAPI (TinCan)
xAPI, also known as TinCan or Experience API, is the successor to SCORM. It is more flexible and can capture a broader range of learning activities, such as:
Mobile learning apps
Video-based learning
Learning activities outside the LMS
If your LMS supports xAPI, you benefit from more detailed tracking options.
How lawpilots delivers SCORM content
